Both the Range Rover Evoque and Cherokee have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Evoque has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Cherokee’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Range Rover Evoque offers an optional 3D Surround Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Cherokee only offers a rear monitor and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the front or sides.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and Cherokee have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Range Rover Evoque has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Cherokee’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

The Range Rover Evoque’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Cherokee doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the Cherokee have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover Evoque comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Cherokee’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Range Rover Evoque’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Cherokee’s (6 vs. 5 years).

The Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 66 more horsepower (246 vs. 180) and 98 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 171) than the Cherokee’s standard 2.4 DOHC 4-cylinder.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is faster than the Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl.:

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover Evoque gets better fuel mileage than the Cherokee Trailhawk 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder (20 city/27 hwy vs. 20 city/26 hwy).

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Cherokee doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Range Rover Evoque has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Cherokee (17.7 vs. 15.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Cherokee’s (3968 vs. 2000 pounds).

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the Cherokee, the Range Rover Evoque has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Cherokee.

The Range Rover Evoque offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Cherokee doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the Range Rover Evoque the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Cherokee can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Evoque to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Cherokee doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover Evoque offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Cherokee doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Cherokee has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the Cherokee have standard heated front seats. The Range Rover Evoque also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Cherokee.
